General Hardware when i was looking to put together my first comp. Eventually I saw OT, didn't think much of it at first but it always had the most threads and replies so eventually I got sucked in.

It was a few years ago, maybe 2001. Was looking at an article on the main site. Kept coming back to look at articles now and then. Was a lurker for 3 years.

A friend in HS used to always frequent Hot Deals. He hooked me up with parts to make a computer so I got pretty into this site. I was idle for a while but now am pretty much full time ATOT.

I saw a story about an online 'murder' confession with a link to this forum. I joined to see what was going on.

I got sucked into HOT DEALS when my friend "DavemanUT" showed me around. Then I figured I was spending too much $$$ there so I had to find an alternative. All hail ATOT, my saviour! Hard to believe all that was 5 years ago.

I used Sharky Forums. Then they got rid of Off Topic. At the time I never posted Off Topic and only cared about CPUs. So I didn't care. But others did. Tons of people left; making the hardware discussions nearly pointless. No one would answer you back since no one was there. The most respected and knowledgable poster there said he was coming to Anandtech. I resisted for a while, but slowly I got pulled over here and gradually ended my posting at Sharky.

I also stayed in General Hardware for a long time. But the pull of Off Topic eventually got me. I hardly ever browse GH anymore.
