My name originates from the reason I no longer have any friends or pets.

Beta tested EQ.

When it was released I was running amok with my usual Mong name at the time, they allowed second names after that once you hit level 20 I think it was.

Ran into a dwarf named Crusty Beard who asked me why I didn't have a last name yet, I was still pondering.

He said what about Grel ?

Pretty much been using it most places ever since last 20 or so years.

Thought it was funny even in later games down the road a few would address me as Mr Grel, I about seriously died laughing the first time I saw a Mong Grel in WOW.

It pretty much faded a lot yeah like DAOC and several over time I guess.

Not sure it isn't still up in some form haven't looked in so long.

I thought they were coming out with another, but hadn't looked recently, EQ2 I didn't even do too long.

Haven't been gaming a lot myself these days I guess.

First, I felt a 'real name' for an added touch of 'realness' and accountability was good.

Second, when making an account on AOL decades ago, Craig was taken, Craig1, Craig2, Craig123, and so on - the first available I tried was Craig234, and I just kept it.

'Craig' is often taken, using different versions would be too hard to remember, and I've only seen Craig234 taken once.

It was originally HASHTAGFVCKOFF - for my disdain of social media. Shortly after registration Harvey pm'd me and said the mods requested I change it. So it changed.

I had the same problem, although it was Compuserve. I thought that my first name was spelled in a unique enough way (Bradly - the Scottish spelling although I'm not Scottish), but no. So I chose my favorite byways in this golden state. The fabled Pacific Coast Highway (the 1), and the El Camino Real (the 101).

Richard + Tauren = Rinaun?

yeah that sounds like you were drunk lol

Wouldnt it be Riren then? Or Richen?

Yeah, I was pretty drunk because I was a total noob drinker. I think at the time I was 16-17 and was pumped to finally get online through the 2k+ queue on my server. I remember starting to drink at like 6PM and ended up not getting onto the server until almost 8:30PM.

I still get slight cringes on how the name came about, but overall it does its purpose better than most peoples usernames. I can google Rinaun and 9/10 of the content is related to me.
