I agree. I'm not sure why you are worrying about a center channel speaker if you are a music lover. If you are primarily listening to music, you should have a 2.1 setup. The center channel is for dialogue in a MOVIE, not for differentiating the human voice from instruments in music.

Now if you had SACD or DVD-A, that would be a different argument.

Vocals play through center unmatched instruments play from the mains.

1) My mains are not as good
2) Less likely to cancel sound if it's the same for both speakers anyways
The solution for 1) is to get better mains, not a decent center.

What do you mean by 2)?

And what you need to understand is that audio manipulation rarely improves sound. If a piece is recorded for stereo, Dolby XXX probably isn't going to make the sound better by mixing it to the center.

If you want them to blend, it's time for a pair of these with some decent stands.

While I agree with the intent of your suggestion, for the price of a pair of those he could just get another 2 of the LCRs and then all 3 fronts would be exactly the same.

If you are mainly listening to music I would just buy 1 more LCR and ditch the Yamaha generics and run a 2.1 setup. Most music is designed to be played primarily out of the left and right channels not the center(It's called stereo for a reason).

Center channel is really only for movies.

As others are saying 2.1 is ideal for music, unless you're running hd audio with 5.1 audio tracks ..... but ... 99% of music or more is best with 2 channels and sub.

BIC is a value brand, that doesn't mean it's bad and doesn't mean it's good.

I personally LOVE my BIC RTR 1530s that I bought quite a few years ago ... I use them as my mains to this day.

I liked them so much that I bought a BIC Accoustech PL200 to replace an old KLH sub I had once I finished most of my home theater room. And recently, I bought a pair of BIC PL66 surrounds to replace a really crappy pair of sony speakers I had in the back.

I won't dare to compare them to klipshorns, but, they sound a HELL of a lot better than anything else I've heard in the price range

Anyhow, My PL66 surrounds sound great and put out a lot of SPL so I had to lower the levels a bit. BIC has not disappointed me, and I think that center channel is a good buy, though don't be fooled by BIC's "retail price" as they are always about 300% higher than they should be.
