How did Brady get the starting job over Bledsoe in 2002?

I thought in the 2002 AFC championship game against the steelers, Bledsoe was the starting qb, but Brady was but he got injured and Bledsoe led them to victory. Did Bledsoe just suck that year and made the coach plug in the newb that year?

Just curious. :)

BTW what a game Brady had, he picked apart that Steeler secondary.

Bledsoe sufferred the same fate Kurt Warner did (although it's arguable who was better in their prime).

Yep, injury to Bledsoe. Brady showed great command of the offense so they let him keep running it when Bledsoe was healed. Brady went down at one point in the playoffs though and Bledsoe led NE to the win. Bledsoe was gone to Buffalo the following off-season.

Bledsoe was the strating QB but the Patriots were doing so-so.
He then got hurt and Brady took over and the team got on a roll.
Brady remained the starting QB even when Bledsoe got healthy.
Then in the playoff, Brady got hurt during the game, Bledsoe took over and guided them to a win and a berth in the SB.
Brady not the nod to Start in the SB becuase he was healthy again, and the rest is history.

Funny, but Bledsoe got his only Super Bowl ring being a back-up.

Bledsoe had done nothing and the patriots were realling when Bledsoe got hurt.

Brady came in and starting winning. Bledsoe was given a chance but had he stayed healthy Brady would have gotten a shot later in the year had drew continued to suck.

Drew got NAILED running lacksadaisically out of bounds vs the Jets. Can't remember who hit him off the top of my head, but he got CLOCKED. He almost died, he had some internal bleeding. They said they had seen similar injuries in bad car accidents.

So really we should thank the Jets :)

But Brady from being drafted in the 6th rnd the year before, managed to earn the back up spot within a year, so it was a matter of time.

Priest Holmes got a SB ring for being a backup and mentor to Jamal Lewis. (Learned that from his FoxSports Bio)

I'm glad I'm not Tom Brady. Shlt, the dude is ugly. And he probably don't make very much cash. Women laugh at him. Nobody in Boston likes him either.

I'm much happier just sitting in front of this CRT and living the good life.

I use the term "funny" because Bledsoe was "all world back then".
He was the Peyton Manning before Peyton Manning.
Its just that he got his ring(and will be only ring) thanks to Brady.

Being a Dolphins fan, I hate Brady....hes a cocky son-of-bitch but if I had to chose one QB for my team, I would EASILY pick him first......before anyone else.
He doesn't put up stats but man, that guy is a competitor and he got guts.
Before anyone jump to the "he plays for a good team" excuse.....this guy already won 2 Super Bowl without a quality RB and WRs. All he does is WIN.

Haha, good one. I thougth you were serious until the "women laugh at him"
I heard this guy is a major player.
Damm, what would you do if you were him...rich, good looking, winner.
He must be fighting women off with a stick.

Indeed, when we wins again on Feb. 6, he's got to be a HOFer.

you have to give it up to Bledsoe that year. He didn't whine or complain about losing his spot, and came in and won the AFC Championship when called upon.
