How did "baa baa black sheep" survive the test of time?

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.

One for my master,
One for my dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

Of all nursery rhymes I remember as a kid, this has to stand out as being one of the most odd ones to still be in existence today..I mean compared to say, "Twinkle twinkle little star" which will always be around since there will always be stars and kids wishing upon things.

But this is based on middle age principals where people would be taxed 2/3rds of their income via wool..how does this apply today at all?

Wha-wha-white sheep,
Have you got any wool?
Yes, Obama.
Three bags full.

One for Sarah
One for Levi
One for the newspeople
With their keen eye

We didn't win the election
Though we tried real hard
A bullshit McCampain
We all look like Bush-tards

Yeah, something like that.

For some reason I thought this was a thread about the old tv show.

That didn't stand the test of time, even when it was new.

I loved that show. I was big on Prop Fighters and wanted to be a Fighter Pilot, somehow I missed the whole Jet Age and the boring Missile Combat BS.

It'd probably suck to watch now, but in my youth it was great TV.

not as odd as
"when the wind blows the cradle will rock, down will go baby cradle and all"

I mean how morbid is that to sing it to a kid??

Ring around the rosey was probably more morbid IMO...
