Some of them weren't ALL that bad.

I have one that would do 1600x900 @ 70hz.

Beat that.

This isn't a lie.

Think about it again. Yes, a 15" CRT, not flat. pwn.

Okay, I accept your challenge.

2048x1536 @ 85Hz

15" CRT, not flat 🙂

What? What? Huh? If this is true, your monitor is possibly the best 15" ever created.

Yeah it's a Gateway EV500 monitor, I couldn't see anything but it did it.

It was only a couple years ago that so many people using 17" CRTs grabbed 15" LCDs as replacements. Explain THAT to me!

I've only ever used Aperture Grills since my first PC back in '92. That one was 15", vertically flat, and edge to edge image. Lasted for quite a few years before upgrading to an expensive 17" Sony, which also lasted quite a few years, and is still functional. Upgraded all our PCs to 19" AG, flat screens a while ago. 15" would hard to live with at this point, whether it was a CRT or LCD.

I thought 15 inch lcd is actually same size or a bit bigger than 17 inch crts?

Yeah, just keep telling yourself that...

The image was 1" smaller diagonally, inferior to the CRT in every way except bulk & energy consumption, AND cost two to three times as much to boot!

i use a 15" floor model crt i bought at compusa maybe five years ago for $40...my 17" crt fell on its face and died :brokenheart:

Jeez - how are you not blind from looking at that thing?

Well, I don't have it set to that all the time, I just wanted to see how far I could push it.

15-inch LCD = 15-inch viewable

17-inch CRT = usually 16-inch viewable.

im still on a 17-inch CRT and my brother still uses a 15-inch dell CRT with 13.8-inch viewable. it is not that bad.
