Update: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30919.html

The nonpartisan Congressional Research Service has found that ACORN did not violate any laws.

Judge denies request to reconsider that the Defund ACORN Act is an unconstitutional bill of attainder.

Shocking.

No laws broken but it also details plenty of shady practices.

I would suspect that the pols will want to shy away from future interactions unless Obama pushes it.

Why would Obama push funding for ACORN?

Otherwise I agree though. I imagine they will see much of (if not all of) their federal funding dry up over the course of the next few years. They have been turned into too much of a hot button issue and the Democrats don't really need them for anything anyway as they can accomplish the same goals through different groups.

Who knows how Obama thinks.

He seems to be very willing to spend/through money at progams that are not well thought out.

His background may come into play in terms of funding ACORN for the perceived good that they do.

Point 1 is partisan crap.

Point 2 is baseless speculation.

#1 has been evidenced already.
TARP
  • lack of restrictions/oversight

Clunkers
  • Program started before support logistics in place
  • Lack of funds for demand
  • Not geared to American made vehicles
  • Rules had multiple loopholes on MPGs
  • Did not support used car dealers
  • Prevented trade ins from going to recyclers

Stimulus
  • Went more to governments to protect public sector jobs
  • Feel good projects
  • Few long term benefit projects
  • Restrictive rules
  • Little educational money made it to teachers

I will concede that point #2 is speculation.
The speculation is however based on politician track records of handing out money to favorite areas/groups. Obama was not exempt in this while a US Senator.
It would be nice to think a leopard will change his spots - but what politician has honored their promises/statements made while on the campaign trail. Obama has not.

Once again you are simply putting your own partisan spin on the programs that you don't like. According to most economists the stimulus package and particularly TARP have been incredibly effective.

I get it, you don't like Obama. Why don't you dislike him for things he actually does as opposed to some idea you've conjured up in your head about what he is going to do in the future? I'm sure you'll still be able to find plenty of reasons to hate him.
