How concerned are you about class warfare in this country?

Will we have a President like FDR again who will create balance again? With the vast media empires of the free market fundamentalism disinformation that have arisen with 1980s deregulation I see a lot more then fireside chats needed to bring rationality again to debate. A Democrat staving off class warfare and saving capitalism/the working class from extremism like FDR would be now burned at the stake for being a commie. (he still is to this day) Yes, the class war is in full swing, and the rich are kicking our asses, the pitchforks WILL come out when the rich overstep even further and price working class people out of the entertainment zombieland they live in, like was said long ago, the capitalist class will sell the rope they hang themselves with in the end. They wil lget to greedy and take away the apathy creating mechanism that got them to where they are through the endless quest for more $$$. Hopefully not anytime soon.

In other words, when american idol/foxnews political soap opera propaganda network is too expensive for your 14 hour a day grueling job (or you have no unemployment/SS check anymore to buy such trivial things with) the US will once again be pissed, but for now people will just snore on the couch and roll over while the TV's warm glow lets them know everything is fine.

Are you real the guy was an asswipe . You want world war 3 so we can come out of this thing . Why doesn't that surprise . FDR did nothing to help americans . World war 2 was our saviour . OH it hurt to say that truth

The source is irrelevant to the stupidity of the term. And wait, I thought CNN was part of the worldwide liberal conspiracy against Republicans? Why is it using their terminology?

The media uses the term because it is sensationalistic. Ideologues use it for others reasons. Either way, you're quite correct that it is a distraction from the real issues.

The media is not at all helpful and in fact is a large part of why our political culture is so dysfunctional. However, the media's problems, serious as they are, are not what conservatives allege them to be.

You're a right wing idiot of the type who screeches whatever word you're fed.

"Soros!" "Acorn!" "Jane Fonda!" Obama is a Kenyan Muslim terrorism communist fascist!" "Bill Clinton is a cocaine dealing murderer!"

Idiots like this are spitting in the face of citizenship, irresponsible.

When are you going to stop and smell the pile of shit your walking in . The solar system is going crazy REAL TRUE FACTS. NO BS . Its right in front of you yet you can't see it . You sir are a coward your so scarred you deny it. I am scarred of the KNOWN . The unknown has no effect on me.

Our middle class went out the door with NAFTA. This country was built on manufacturing jobs. Thanks to politics and the screwed up concept of globalism, our jobs are going overseas. So why can't we consume our own stuff instead of trying to compete with China and Mexico etc.? Unions are responsible for some of that by making the cost of things too high. The only thing that is left is technology and instead of educating our own we educate the world in how to compete against us. How many Americans do you see in grad school? You see a lot of Chinese and Indians and they are kicking our asses.

We do not want to pay for stuff, but at the same time we do not want to be paid crap either.

We should not use countries like China and India on models of what we need to compare to. We do not want that kind of poverty, disease and overcrowding. Bringing it up like "well, we have it better than XXX!' is BS, especially when other countries *cough*GERMANY*cough* seem to have no problem manufacturing and keeping a higher standard of living (even though average take-home pay is less).

Our current system will not work. Unless we change things, we will be having some major problems down the road.

Analogy: Diet and exercise. Just like growing old, we can't eat the same crap we did when we were younger. We also will not be able to lose the fat we have accumulated simply by blaming Frito Lay. WE have to start changing things.

What does that mean?

It means the rich need to pay more. Period. However you want to do it, say it, pitch it, the answer is still that simple.

The middle class needs to pay more for its manufactured goods. Whether through trade tariffs or more local production, some of the pain of job production must be carried by the consumer.

The lower class needs to be "encouraged" in many areas to go for training and have it provided to them.

EVERYONE needs a more efficient health and education system (college and medical care) and we need to stop being the World's Police.

"Class Warfare" is a popular soundbyte. What it is is just Money making the rules that Money follows.

If this is such a concern to Soros why doesn't he help the issue by handing out money to those in need?

Because he wants the Government to do the handing of money and to continue the money handing programs by publicly warning about food riots etc..

See they cannot publicly go out and support food stamps and welfare but he can imply support by announcing these dangerous risks to our democracy.

This will insure the Middle Class will continue to fund the Lemon socialist policies of this government that helps keep crony capitalism working as usual.

There has long been class warfare in this country. It was just a guerrilla war that is now being brought into daylight, and the guerrilla's don't like that one bit.

While unions are partly to blame, more of the blame can be placed on the outbreak of NIMBY syndrome, the fact that we must rely other countries for resources a modern civilization needs. You can also blame the highest corporate tax rate in the world. Even more socially progressive governments like Sweden realize that Business Capital, and therefor jobs, can easily move from one country to another with more favorable tax incentives. In the end, it's much more difficult to convince companies to stay in the US and little to attract companies to move to the US.
The only thing that is left is technology and instead of educating our own we educate the world in how to compete against us. How many Americans do you see in grad school? You see a lot of Chinese and Indians and they are kicking our asses.

While higher education is great, there is actual a surprising lack of skilled labor in the US. I found this testimony pretty interesting.

I wouldn't go using China and India as beacons of working education systems though. While there certainly are a lot of Asians in technical fields, basic education for the masses fall far behind even the craptastic peformance of US schools. Basic literacy rates in the US are at 99.0% while China sits at 95.9% and india at a dismal 74.04%.

Many if not most Asians working in high tech fields in the US are from wealthier families that were able to afford private or foriegn education for their children.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to go back to like 1956 . God it was wonderful . We had real families real charity real fellowship. No we didn't have All the toys we have today . But we were real americans . Frankly I don't Know who are what we are anymore . I do know who the worlds biggest terrorist are at this moment in time

What are you smoking?

1956 was much less "fun" than now. Less luxury, longer hours, smaller houses.

People seem to forget all the crap that "we" had to live through in the past when recalling it. The only exception being times like the Great Depression or Immigration.

So just can it about "like" 1956 until you do a bit more research on the SOL of that era.

Maybe. Much of the uber-wealthy are so disconnected from the reality of those who aren't, that we aren't exactly all holding hands and singing.

Lately, with trade and industrial policies that are not to our long-term benefit, and shareholder value mattering more than any other economic metric, er...it's not pretty.

If nothing changes, or if Rs actually do drastically cut entitlements and safety nets, I could see riots and like. I wouldn't want them, but it could happen.

@Ninjahedge: calibrate your sarcasm meter 🙂.

It truly was a grand time...

If you were white, male, healthy, Christian, straight, not poor, and not from an immigrant family. Otherwise it pretty much sucked.

But on a real positive note we didn't have computers or the Internet, so we wouldn't all be exposed to so much drivel.

Ah...those were the days.

I'm very concerned with the class warfare that's been waged by the wealthy against the middle class and poor since Ronald Reagan was elected.

Im not worried about it. More than likely well see some frindge group assassinating CEOs and other 1%'ers until they get the message that type of wealth concentration is to be feared.

I'm not supporting this idea i could just see it happening is all. Id rather see legal means taking to establish a strong middle class again.

If it is really warfare then it has to be a 2 sided struggle. So that means the poor and middle class have been waging a war against the wealthy since 1988.

I'm looking forward to the morlocks killing and eating the Eloi populations of NYC, San Francisco, and the like.

Do you understand anything about history?

First this country was not built on just mfg jobs. Agriculture played a huge factor on this nations growth through the 19th cent. When you look at the 20th century, when did we hit our mfg peak? It was at the same time when there were no other countries with the ability to manufacture what we did. All of Europe was rebuilding from WWII so that couldn't make squat. Japan started taking on the US in mfg because they could build stuff better then we could (cars, electronics).

The middle-class built on mfg was dying before NAFTA was signed.
