how concerned about natural disasters are you?

When I was younger I was deathly afraid of tornadoes due to a book I read about them and the frequency of them where I used to live. Now I don't give a shit what happens weather wise.

Outside of avalanche area. To far inland for storms off of Gulf. Tornadoes get chopped up. No fault zones nearby. Biggest issue would be if Yellowstone popped cork

It would probably be #9,876 on the list of things I would ever be concerned about. It never crosses my mind to be honest.

What's the point in being concerned? If you live in an area prone to natural disasters, such as tornados for me, then throw some supplies in the closet in case a tornado shows up one day. No point in worrying about it all day/every day though.

The thing is tornado's can hit anywhere but some places have them more often then others.

The probability and potential magnitude of natural disasters here is nearly zero, so my concern is nearly zero.

live in the San Diego, CA area

not concerned at all

I'd be paranoid about tornadoes and hurricanes if I lived in those areas though

I live in KC. Tornado area. But the big cities rarely if ever get hit. So i dont worry about it at all. Ive been in KC for 14 years now and have never seen a tornado near by the metro area.

I don't think of blizzards as being "natural disasters." They just mean a day off from school (if I'm lucky.) Tornadoes? Maybe an F1; F2 if somehow a really strong one manages to develop. Oh no, a couple trees turn into firewood. Actually, if I was lucky, my house would get hit by an F1. I need a new roof - better the insurance company than me. :>) Hurricanes? Nope. Floods? If I flood, the rest of you better build an ark. Earthquakes? Nope. Tsunami? Yeah, right.

I looked into this last year. Statistically, you're just as likely as any other spot in Tornado country to get hit. It's just that such a high percentage of the land is farmland, that an equally high percentage of tornadoes hit farmland.

we had a tornado go right through the middle of downtown Atlanta a few years ago and we are on the edge of tornado alley.

not that i am worried about it, but it can happen.
