How compatible is OpenOffice with MS Office and Vise Versa?

I've never had any problems, be it text documents, spreadsheets or Presentations.

However, most of what I've used so far has beem pretty simple. I guess text documents are generally not problematic. Spreadsheets however can be a pain and I've heard of stuff that can be completely messed up specially if a lot of macros and features native to Excel are used.
