How come notebook LCD specs never seen?

When it comes to desktop LCDs, people scuritinize the contrast ratio, brightness rating, response time, etc.
But with notebooks, I never see any specs for the LCD mentioned, and it seems the only consideration is size and resolution.

For notebook uesrs who care about screen quality, how do you go about deciding which brand/model to get?

Dell has the specs on their web site, don't know about others.
