How come I didn't know about this, until now?

Wow, I wonder if that's a legitimate site? (Allowed by Nintendo)

IIRC, emulators and ROMs are perfectly legal. Nintendo isn't selling those games anymore and the main purpose of them is to keep the games alive.

..And, the site has been around for years and years, so, if it was going to be taken down, it would have been already imho.

Emulators are perfectly legal. ROMs are in a bit of a grey zone. A lot of those games are still sold. Especially the more popular ones from services like the Virtual Console. Ones not currently being sold are consider abandonware. I think you are allowed to have a backup copy if you already own the game.

I think Nintendo is certainly annoyed that ROMs exist. Though they don't seem to take active steps to shut down well know host sites like CoolRom, ones that have been around forever. Sort of like Apple with the jailbreak community. Don't try to shut them down, just quietly patch the exploits in the next version.

LOL! Nintendo was once the MOST active, CONSTANTLY getting sites taken down. Some were just out of reach, like CoolROMs. They even made outlandish claims about emulation itself being illegal until they themselves started emulating.

I remember having US Customs issues with my Bung Dr. V64 thanks to them getting an import ban on equipment for making/playing ROM dumps.

I've been playing Kirby's Adventure on my actual NES recently so I chose it for a direct comparison. The aspect is off (not quite wide enough) and the colors are way brighter and more vibrant than the real thing.
