How closely do you follow the NFL?

I wonder how many people follow the NFL sometimes...I remember last year when the Pats were playing the Colts, the colts were up by a few with like 12 minutes left. My room mate says "well...it was a good run. it had to end sometime". I was like "really? You have the clutchest QB in the game. You have the greatest team ever assembled. You have a coach who's pissed off because on of his disciples ratted him out for doing something that every team has been proven to do. And you think they're not going to gut this out?" Of course the Pats win...and come super bowl time my room mate has his patriots hat on as he's going out to some yuppie scum super bowl party. Ugh. For the record he has no idea what's going on when he watches a game. He couldn't tell you how much a field goal is worth for instance.
So we always hear about how popular football is, but are most if its fans like my room mate?

Sounds like a bandwagon fan.

I watch most of the seahawks games and the other games with interesting storylines. I know some strategy but definitely can't discuss it to the level the analysts do.

Well, they call them analcysts for a reason. 😉

And I personally don't give a crap about pro sports. I played sports in grade school as a distraction, and quickly outgrew it. Too bad most people never get past that stage and end up couch potatoes watching it. The only time I actually give a crap about pro sports is if I bet on it, like at the horse race track.

There's no "I'm a guy that rarely watches football but knows the standings of the teams ( who's good and who's bad) I don't really follow teams but I do know how to play and what strategies are used. I just don't catch many games. That's me ...

I don't think I've watched a game all season. I MIGHT watch the playoffs and Super Bowl though...MAYBE...(depends on who's playing)

I used to be a football junkie when I was young...NEVER missed a game on TV if I wasn't working.

After the strike, I got pissed...a bunch of millionaire ghetto rats playing a game...and they want more...
fuck em all, face down.

From the results so far, I can conclude that there are no girls on the internet.

Also, not at all. I've watched maybe one game.

GOOD CALL!

We can make you the forum referee!

I watch all Steelers games, know all rules, strategies, etc. Oh, Madden helps a lot to learn the game for those who don't know it too well (I knew football etc before Madden, just saying if you don't know football and like games, give it a try)

I haven't missed a Packer game in as long as i can remember. I'm fairly sure i could name every starting player on the team and most of the backups.

I rarely miss a Dolphin game either, and you could probably add the Jets to that list as long as Favre is still playing.

I coach it at the youth level and this year will be President of the largest youth football organization in Texas (2200 kids between the ages of 4 and 12). Also, my kids' highschool yesterday just won the state 5A (back to back) championship. I know a little bit about football. Go Broncos!

you watching the arsenal-liverpool game right now? sick game tied 1-1 🙂

lol yep

too bad my boy fernando torres is still out 🙁 or liverpool would be up like 3-1 right now!

This ref abuse is getting to me now - the sending off was fully deserved IMO.

/edit: this thread is now about real football

I'm a guy; I follow closely. I watch (or would watch) all my teams games. Know all the positions and almost all the rules. I can discuss strategy of the game freely

I'm a guy; I follow closely when my team is doing okay (or not loosing - which is tough since I'm an AZ follower). I watch (or would watch if they carried it in my market better) all my teams games for at least 1 quarter. I'll look up the final stats on Monday at work. Know most of the positions and can call the refs stupid for the rules. I can discuss strategy of the game but if I was to ever coach my team would be crushed miserably. 😀
