I went travelling with my closest friend many years ago whgen we were mcuh younger. One night we were forced to sleep in the same double bed. Luckily there was one of those 4 foot long french cylindrical pillows which we placed down the center of the bed as the 'gay barrier'. The barrier started down the middle so we each got 50% of the bed space, but a rule was put in place that we lost 15cm (6 inches) of bed space if you let one drop under the covers. We were both really gassy that night, so the barrier really covered some mileage...

Spooning would be totally out of order for anyone apart from my missus. You don't spoon a male friend.

On topic: I have slept in the same bed as my best friend (male). It was on a queen bed and we made a "pillow barrier" in the middle so we didn't touch each other and used separate blankets. Equivalent to two beds in my eyes. I have not spooned with him though. He is the man and all but ... just ewww.
