Every time you pump gas. Throw away all your garbage while you wait. My car is filth free using this method.

only applies to chumps who have to pump their own gas, though ;)

but my method is similar... I stop by a local bodega or Dunkin Donuts 2-4 times/week for coffee. whenever I do, any garbage in my car comes with me and gets throw into the trash in front of the store.

Zero clutter.
Drinks and whatnot is fine in my car but it leaves the minute the car is vacated.
I cant stand car clutter!

When I was a teen and early 20s there was always junk in my car.

Now I'm 33 and have two nice cars. I keep them clean. However, my kids rapidly dirty it right back up. :(

Pristine on the inside... garbage goes in the door pockets. Best purchase was a shop vac that has some serious suction. Don't let the kids eat in the car either. Drinks are only water.

even chumps who pump their own gas can't clean out their car while the gas is pumping because it's illegal to make it lock in pump-mode with something like a gas cap. Gotta stand there and hold it. Best time for me to empty the side pockets is after a drive-thru they have those garbage bins that allow you to just reach out the window and toss crap.

No clutter at all. Kids are not allowed to eat or drink in the car (other people's kids, as I don't have any.)

Receipts tend to clutter the glove compartment a bit until I clean it out, every month or so. I pretty much never eat in it and only drink water inside, so it's fairly clean. Some dust accumulation on the dashboard though, which I'll wipe down with a wafflerag every so often.

Spotless. I found the more you like your car, the more you baby it. I recently bought a dream car, so I actually find myself wiping smudges off of it with a microfiber towel every time I leave work :)

Pretty much spotless. One of my big pet peeves is a dirty car, so I never leave anything laying around. I vacuum and dust the inside regularly as well.

Pretty much nothing in it but an emergency kit and an umbrella. Needs a good wash but it was raining every two days for the past month so I didn't bother.

The ash tray has maybe 1 or 2 crumbled up gum wrappers atm, other than that the only loose/free things in my car is my sunshade which i use religiously, and a tube of lexol leather wipes.

I used to work as a car cleaner / driver for a rental company and now it really bothers me if my car is dirty. Some people used to bring them back stuffed with garbage. People are pigs.

The only real clutter in my car is gas receipts. Everything else in there is stuff I use. Umbrella, hats, jacket, water bottle, snow brush in the winter, sunglasses, shovel and emergency kit in the trunk. She needs a good wash and vacuum. Probably do that tomorrow morning. Let my dad in it once and he tracks mud all over the carpet.

I haven't washed my car in the 13 years I've had it. It's also full of crap. Tools, kid stuff, dirt, and misc construction debris.

I tend to keep mine debris free, and I try to clean any change and stuff too as people will break your side window just to get a quarter or anything else that looks attractive. As for the outside I tend to wait till it gets pretty bad before getting a car wash.

I do get lot of dust inside though, there's only like 2-3 months of the year where it's convenient to bring the vacuum outside.

It's awful. My car has exactly the kind of mess you hate. It just doesn't bother me enough to clean it out more than a few times a year.

Same here, but it does bother me. I even have old fast food bags in there half the time, and I only eat fast food a handful of times a year :|.

I just never think about cleaning it out. I get in and out of the car with a destination in mind...other than that I don't really think about the car. When I do actually clean it out I realize how dumb it was to let it get so bad, since it doesn't take long to clean up, and then it's nice to drive around in for a while.

Thanks for reminding me...I need to go clean it out now.

My car has clutter/mess, but not from drinks or food. I have too much misc crap in the back, umbrella, gloves, spade, flares, compressor, shopping bags, hat, more gloves, ice scraper, backup ice scraper, extra wiper fluid, packaging that my last replacement wiper blade came in, additional bags and or boxes, etc ....

I hate food and crumbs and such in my car.

Pretty clean. I don't keep much trash in there. If there's anything then it's an empty wrapper from gum or something of the sort. Very minimal. I clean it out whenever I can.
