How carcengenic is Toner?

Like, its covering my left pant leg pretty good. I know this stuff isn't the best for you, but should I go home from work and change my clothes and crap?

you should probably go tell your boss what you did. go to the doctor and explain to them what happened. keep an eye on it for a few days if problems develop. if problems are developing, the doctor will have already known before hand will have hopefully read up on the subject.

and really the human body isn't as weak as everyone should think. i've inhaled paint fumes, clorox fumes, etc. etc. in my life and the doctor in all my checkups says i'm doing just fine. and if you think about it anything can cause cancer. just go to the doctor.

I've spilled toner a bunch. It isn't THAT bad for you.
Try mixing some amonia and some bleach together. That is bad for you.

1) "carcengenic" ?

2) Are you seriously considering going home from work because you spilled toner powder on you and are afraid of getting cancer? Tell you boss to slap some sense into you

I used to work for Toshiba. There is nothing harmful in the toner we used and the best solution was just to vacuum it up.

if you have a toner-vac.

Any type of small vacuum with an attachment will work. Toner vacs are the best because of the filters, however, in a pinch, I used an upright with the nozzle.

yep, we had someone here try that once and got toner everywhere. The dummy then tried to clean it up with warm water. That just melted the toner to whatever it was on.

I knew this guy who was removing an empty toner cartride from his home printer when some spilled on his chest. 4 months later he went to see the doc about chest discomfort. 7 months later he was dead from lung cancer.
He never smoked a ciggy in his entire life. His family tried to sue the printer company but apparently there are adequate warnings so they got nothing.

I heard it gives you skin cancer pretty much straight away even if just in contact with your skin for a few minutes.

OMG...thats the stupidest story pretty much ever. Toner is certified with the government to be safe for human ingestion, in small quantities. I've gotten it all over me before and nothing has fallen off yet. Go TPAD.

Stop and think for a minute. If toner was so deadly that it would give you skin cancer if it was in contact with your skin for just a few minutes, don't you think it would have warnings all over it?

The toner for our large printer isn't even in a cartridge - it comes in a bottle that you pour into the machine. You can't hardly avoid getting some on your hands. And I've been using it for 10 years now, cancer-free.

Well you fell for it well. Hopefully the OP did too and is running around work in a panic with no trousers(pants) on. You can't blame a guy for trying.

In this day and age no company would allow such dangerous materials to be handled by joe average with no special training/release form...

LOL probably true. And I was thinking about going home more for a change of clothes than any thing else. Its not like I work in an office, I do on-site repair and stuff like that. Just curious if the stuff was all that dangerous, you guys are such assholes some times.
