Always get rocked by carrier rushes..

Any good couter mesures to destroy a Protoss player before he gets me?

Any attempt to attack is always thwarted by dozens of cannons who wipe out the little zergs with ease.

Guardians get taken down by carriers, trying to get the carriers with sourges get the scourges wiped out by cannons, lurkers get killed with observers.

SADNESS! I can never ever win.

Yeah, but, not if you have your carriers sitting behind 12 cannons.

Cannons wipe out the scourges.

Whats the best way to a Zerg rush?

Yeah, I used to play protoss against a friend of mine. He wouldn't zerg rush me, but my carriers got owned by those kamikaze units.

When the carriers come, have devourers ready with spore colonies (Detectors). While the carriers are at your base, send some guardians around the side and destroy the stargates, or the pylons that power them. Target pylons and stargates first. Guardians have longer range than photon cannons. While you're doing that, make sure your devourers are attacking the CARRIERS, not the interceptors.
If that doesn't work, build up a lot of hydras and make sure they're aimed at carriers. That worked for me against newbs with carriers, more skilled carrier users will be able to beat that.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot about scourges. Those work too if the carriers are distracted by other things. Carriers won't prioritize scourge over other units (or so I've noticed) and manually targeting them is really hard if they're moving.

I think you've got spore colonies and queens confused. Spore colonies themselves are detectors (like missile turrets on terran) that shoot ground to air only. Parasite is a queen based thing.

Oh, you are right.

Shoot. Thought that was amazing for a second.

But you see, when I try a rush on their base they usually have dozens and dozens of cannons that take out 7 groups of zerglings before I put a dent in his defences.

Carriers hit the guardians then fall back behind the cannons when the scourges rush them.

BW, it's the flying things that spit purple, those guys take out carriers fast.

but you have to use combinations. you can't take out toss with one unit.

combo, guardians with the purple cloud spitting units (can never remember the names of this sheeeit).

Have you thought about the reason you lost is because you're just a worse player? It all comes down to execution and what to build to counter your enemies. For instance, if he carrier rush that means he leave himself prett much vulnerable in the beginning. That means you don't need to build your own defense and power up to his level to counter his carriers. There are a couple of good counters for carriers as zerg. Get some devours. You don't need to dedicate a whole fleet of them of them. Need maybe 10 devours + hydras or mutas in the mix and you'll kill his carriers with no problem. Remember that his carriers are all he has. He can't afford or have enough food to get that many other units.

I have to stress that defilers are such a underrated unit. You do big damages using them in your attacking force. 2-3 defilers will render protoss' cannons useless.

PG: Devourers are what you're talking about. Their acid spores actually remove the Carrier armor protection (true you still have to get through the shields, but after that it's cake. If you have a Terran ally, you can EMP their shield away and then it's just a massacre.

They are called devours. You still need an attacking units with devours to make them more effective. The acid spores they spit out basically renders whatever shield on the carriers kinda useless and amplify your attacking units damage. Using devours alone against carriers is not a good idea unless you outnumber the carriers 2 to 1 at least.

I have always had devourers but never had any clue on what any of their abilities did.

What do they do? (I thought they were Defilers)

WTF? Someone carrier rushes you on 1v1? Lame.

Just zerg rush em. And when I say rush, I mean 6 pool. And keep sending em. Take out the 1 pylon powering the gateway first.. thats the most important thing. Then hit the probes.

This is coming from a protoss player. Zerglings are so annoying in the beginning.

IF they do manage to get carriers, scourges should be able to rape the carriers. DON'T go in their base w/ the cannons though.

Here's what you do. Send in like 6 Ultralisks at the cannons with upgraded armor and right after that, send in all the scourges you can at the carriers. They will all take up the Ultralisks as targets and the scourges will destroy things. the ultralisks will most likely die soon after that unless you can make them run away... maybe have a group of Hydralisks waiting in the background so that when the Ultras retreat, if anything follows them you have more units ready to fight.

Can't.

He converts them and turns them on me.
