How can you tell if an Office 97 cd is genuine?

Is it supposed to have the hologram that changes from "genuine" to "microsoft" on the inside track, or is that too new to have been implemented on those cds. If so, how can you tell if they are genuine? Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Thanks for the link Nohr. I already checked it before and it doesn't have any information on Office 97. But forgetting about the cd and jewel case for a second, you're saying that if it doesn't have the COA that its pretty much a pirated version?

the orange label is most-likely the COA

does it say stuff on it like "is it genuine??" and "coa" and "etc"

heh

oh.. and if you don't have a COA, it doesnt matter if the CD is legit or not.. its illegal.

but a "backup" w/COA is legal.. because.. well you pay for the liscence, not the media.

the orange label is a small (1.75" X .5") label with a picture of a key and the words: "CD Key: " and then the number itself. Well I guess its fake. Thanks for the help Colt.

It's still possible it is real.

I'm not familiar with office.. but thats how it worj with windows, for the most part, so I assumed it would be similar.

where did you get this?

Someone brought me a box full of computer cards/cables etc. and this was in there. Thought maybe I could sell this, but guess not. 🙁

the original Office 97 cd didnt have any fancy holograms on it like Windows 2000 and XP has.
It looks like a silver cd with something printed on it on black text.. its bascially silver and black text..

On the inside near the ring it says "copy right microsoft" .. or something like that.

As long as the cdkey isnt 1111.......7 then your clear.

Hmm...it doesn't say that on the inside track...the top of the cd is completely printed over. Although the cd key does not match that pattern. Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah..it may be a fake. I remember a few years back they were selling Office 97 Pro Full version on egay for 25 bucks. I still have mine.....
