How Can You Tell if a CPU is ....

Hi i have a A7V266 mother board with a 1.3 AMD cpu and i decided to upgrad to 1.53 !
So i took out the 1.3 and put in the 1.53 instead and it would boot up to the first screen where all the info of the computer, how much ram and cpu speed is desplaid! and it even says 1.6 but thats about all that happens nothing else!!!!
It just sits there!
I took it out and it wasnt HOT at all! nothing is craked and then i put the old CPU the 1.3 and it workes fine!!

Please help me Anadtech nation.

Buy the way the new CPU is an AMD 1800 xp could that be it?

You put an AthlonXP 1800 in there, which is a 1.53ghz processor, it posted at 1.6ghz?

Put the AXP in, and before rebooting, reset your CMOs
