My wife's friend she works in NYC in finance sector. She makes like $250K~. Yes this isn't much considering NYC, but there are tons who make far far less.

She saw a stupid post on FB that said Zuckerberg rolled out a system where if you type 'BFF' in a post and the font changes color to blue then it means your account is not hacked. So she shared this on her wall.

What the sh*t???? FB has certain 'fun' words that change in color such as blue for BFF and orange for congrats.

How can she be so stupid??? It boggles my mind to realize once again that common sense vs going to college / working for a corp don't go hand in hand.

Exactly - and that probably goes against everyone here... Having the PEOPLE SKILLS necessary to make huge ass contract sales is a skill and an art of itself. It doesn't necessarily require tons of studying persay - but it is damn sure necessary. If an accounting firm doesn't have these type of people skills and all they having are book smarts, they won't survive because they won't be able to bring in the revenue.

I think that has a lot to do with it. I get too focused on the risks to my detriment but I am working on my "not giving a shit" skillset, good results so far but it is hard.

There's multiple arenas of intelligence. I know plenty of people making six figures who have no idea how to use a computer & do 2-finger typing. And a lot of people are really good at their specific job, but are completely clueless at other things. Just look at all of the pro athletes who burn through their millions in no time...good at playing football or basketball, not so good at personal financial management. And separately, there's people with common sense & people who lack it. Particularly when it comes to computers...you can have a reasonably intelligent person IRL who hops on Facebook & revert to RE:FW:LOL!! grandma mode for whatever reason.
