How can you find the cell phone provider?

I'm trying to figure out who my friend's services are so I can group who has Verizon or not. That way I know who not to call if I am close to going over my minutes.

Any help would be very kind, thanks ATOT 🙂

It used to be that you could tell just by the number. Providers bought whole exchanges (xxx) XXX-XXXX but now that number portability is out there, there is no for sure way to tell.

If they are your friends....I would ask them?

I've tried www.fondfinder.net

but it gives out these wierd cell providers that I've never heard of. Google has no clue either

Its because there is no way to tell anymore. You might be able to pay for a background check type site but other than that, there isn't a good way.

I am not just talking out my rear. I have worked in cellular for the past 9 years.

It states carrier before you have to register or pay.

That doesn't work for my cell number. It has it listed as a land line and it lists another company I've never heard of.

Yeah, with number portability, websites like that aren't very helpful for finding out who the provider is for a certain #.

This would be a problem when you keep your cell# and change the provider. Mine still shows U.S.Cellular but i switched to Verizon Wireless with same number.

Your mobile-to-mobile only includes Verizon? I'm pretty sure my free M2M on Alltel covers all cell phone providers.

Your free M2M on Alltel is only to Alltel customers unless you add a number from a different provider to your "My Circle".

Now that Verizon has purchased Alltel, things will change. Verizon customers can currently call Alltel customers for free. However, Alltel customers CANNOT call Verizon customers for free yet, until 3rd quarter (according to an Alltel/Verizon corporate estimate).
