How can you erase BIOS password?

Hi, my cousin messed up his computer by playing around with the bios. He switched around the boot drives and he also turned on the password. So he can't get into setup and the computer won't boot. He has an old computer (200Mhz). I remember on my old computer I used to keep my finger on "End" and turn on the computer to reset the bios. I'm not sure what kind of motherboard he has but i was wondering if there was any way i can reset the bios without opening the case and removing the battery.

If it is a desktop, you can usually reset the bios by flipping a jumper on the mobo, booting the computer and letting it sit for a few seconds, then put the jumper back and boot the computer up normally.

you should check the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard.

if it is a notebook you are pretty much phucked since those are really theft deterrants and cant really be reset without sending them to the manufacturer or using some proprietary set of tools that flash the bios directly.

Vinnie26: If you're not sure which mobo jumper resets the bios you have one other alternative. Remove the battery and let the system sit for a few minutes. Put the battery back in and fire up the system. Everything in the bios should have been reset to default.
