How can you determine what 3D speeds an x1900XT CF is running

OK..I got this card from a forum memeber(6mo old sapphire version)...it ran 675/1600 under watercooling

He sent with HSF reinstalled with AS5...all I did was remove my x800xl from mobo..ran unistall of drivers, went to safe mode..ran drive cleaner pro(removed ati and cab cleaner)

I did not touch the HSF....

rebooted into windows (internet was not connected)..installed 6.11 drivers(only no CCC) and newest ATI tray tool..1.2.6.940

I have tried to set the card to 3D speed(ie 625/725)....if I set the core to 625..I get a hard lock up
and the system reboots

I am using a Powerstream 520W PSU(non sli)..I have opteron 170@2.8, 2 gb of ram, dvdrw, x-fi soundcard, 2 x 200gb seagate sata 7200.8 HDD and my watercooling and 5 fans

Is there a way to confirm what speed is running in 3D mode on 3DMARK05(I tired to use ati tool tray to show gpu speed/memory speed but it reads 0)

The cards automatically switch to 3d clocks when running a fullscreen 3d app. You do not have to do it manually unless you want to OC, and in that case you first have to set the core to 1.4v before changing clocks because the cards use different voltages for 3d and 2d mode.

i cant believe how many people are worried about this.... its only become the trend with X19 series for some reason

No I have no doubt something changes but what I want to do is know how to confirm the speed I am running....

In ATI Tray tools if I set a faster core speed it locks up..maybe this is the result of voltage not being changed when going to 3D

I bought a used item and what to confirm it is working...I am not saying I got a card that does not run 3D mode but I want to know if there is a way to see 3D speeds and confirm the card is not defective

OK..I see that the issues are the voltage change with 3D apps..so the 2D voltage should lock up at 3D speeds

ok ..this is likely the issue

so what is the normal 3D voltage? 1.4v... what normal 3D memory voltage?

The memory voltage stays the same in 3d as in 2d modes. Furthermore, the clock switching is controlled by the driver, not the card itself, so I wouldn't worry about the clocks at all. You can also verify the 3d clocks by using the on screen display feature in ATT while running a 3d app in fullscreen.

Thanks Munky

Try using the latest version of ATT - 1.2.6.955. The OSD clocks work fine for me.
