I do, but it's a collective action problem. It's one of the things I pay the government for ... and it's the moral, decent thing to do. I'll let the oil barons pay for the indecencies like killing brown people in foreign countries. Profits uber alles, you know.

Taking care of its people should be any civilized government's job -- of the people, by the people, and for the people. Your view, that government exists primarily to protect the profits of the wealthy and powerful, is a regressive abomination. I do not worship money either, but thank you for your concern. Christ told US to help the poor, not vote to have money taken out of our paychecks and "help them" from afar.

You have an interesting view of Christianity. Why is your view on the poor different than your view on abortion? Or do you believe that our leaders shouldn't force people not to have abortions as well?

So basically this thread boils down to
"Hey the host and star of one of the most popular programs on cable TV, a program that has historically been star driven and highly demanding of it's on air talent, makes more money than we thought".

Also a 10m penthouse in NYC or any similar major city will likely double in value in 10 years.
