-complain to Newegg-they are heavy weights and won't put up with that kind of crap service for their customers (BTW, my Newegg orders always come via UPS or FedEx-and if it comes out of their New Jersey facility, it's almost always in my hands the day after I order it).

-The US government allowing or not allowing is not relevant, even if it is possible under our deregulated shipping environment. Complain to Newegg and let market forces prevail.

DHL has shut down. But they still have contracts out there so they have to finish them up.

the one time i have used dhl was a complete joke and would convince a monkey to never use them again. i ordered something from europe, and it took a couple weeks to arrive. then a couple months later i get a notice from a collection agency attempting to collect VAT on dhl's behalf. i promptly called dhl and asked why they are trying to collect a tax i paid with the online vendor, when did dhl become tax collectors and why is the first contact on this matter a final notice from a collection agency. in the end, i think they were fishing for a $50+ check for nothing.

I had a similar experience. I ordered some stuff from Hong Kong, shipped standard postal service. It was in my mailbox in 3-4 days.

I forget how much shipping was, but I got 100 LEDs for $10 shipped.

I think that on the whole shipping to and from Hong Kong is pretty quick. My guess is that it is because of the number of direct flights from various countries and the fact that Hong Kong is still a major point of import/export to China. For example, I ordered a laptop from Nevada and had a delivery attempt after 3 business days and this was using USPS/HK Post. I once had a parcel post package from the US get here via Germany, don't know what the hell that was about but usually I get pretty much packages from anywhere in the world within 5 business days or less.

I've only had DHL a few times, but my experience was indistinguishable from any other carrier; no problems. I was sorry to see them leave the US market. There isn't much in the way of competition, and even if they suck, they could always get better.

That happened to me before. I even paid for same day shipping so I could get it the moment it came out, but nope. 3 days later the package arrived. I was fucking pissed.

My last encounter with DHL... working in shipping at a major university, on a rainy day, the driver carries in a few packages. One of them looks like it was dropped in a puddle, kicked to the next puddle, and then stepped on. Completely soaked, mangled, and crushed. I hesitate to sign, given the condition of it, so he just puts his hand right through the water-logged broken side of the box and pulls out the item.

I had a customer ship a part DHL Saturday Delivery; three technicians and two pilots waited for a part that never arrived. When contacted, DHL informed our customer that Saturday Delivery was not guaranteed, but that he would still pay the Saturday premium for a package that arrived the following Tuesday.
