How can someone with no personality survive an interview?

So apparently I was born without a personality gene, and so far I've learned to live with it so far by making up for it in other areas..but there comes moments where having a personality actually helps a bit. How does one overcome this when it comes to an interview though? I could *try* to be exciting and sparkling, but it would probably all come out a bit superficial.

First off, stay off the syringe ;) LOL That will definitely help. Secondly, just be friendly and don't pretend to be something you aren't. Just like any situation, people don't like a liar.

just be yourself. Sometimes people who are to out going can become problematic, it depends on the job, environment etc. Just be yourself, there are enough fake, lying people out there.

Ive got the same problem... I'm hoping to be so incredibly skilled that they will overlook my obvious personality defects and hire me anyway;)

I have the same problem. It really manifests inself in my inability to "joke around" with people. I have a feeling I come across as flat and lifeless. I don't laugh at things my office mate or others say -- I can only manage a polite chuckle. I don't like telling jokes or trying to be funny for fear of offending people -- so I usually don't say or talk much in real life. Also, most of the people I've met, I'm not really interested in getting to know them better. Sad but true....

Lately, I've been trying to "act as if". I just try to act like Ben (me), but with an outgoing, friendly personality around people I don't know.

Also, I don't think it's possible for somebody NOT to have a personality.

Right, I exaggerate a bit :)

Hey, I'm just a catastrophist...I could exert tons of charm and still think I'm a loser :p

I think we're on the same page, then. Don't blow everything up into a catastrophe, be yourself and BS some small talk and you'll be fine. : )

If you go in there thinking you are bland and have zero personality then that is what you will convey.

HEY GUYS,

This dude, Syringer, says he has no personality. So he is saying he can't be himself!

Here is my advice:

Just try to sound smart.
