Me: i saw Passion of the Christ
John: how was it
John: im gonna see that tommorow
Me: the most violent film i saw in my life
Me: and i saw some sick stuff before
John: aww u needed me ther to hold u huh haha
Me: shut up
Me: go see it tomorrow
Me: you'll know what im talking about
Me: historically, the lashings Jesus received was done by a whip with several threads in the end, each tied with metal shards
Me: and with each whip, those metal shards would delve into your skin
Me: and upon pulling back, each take out chunks of flesh
Me: Mel Gibson (the director), he held nothing back, and showed this
Me: the audience was cringing and gasping as it was happening
Me: very violent
John: damn...

For those who's seen it, I thought it was surprising how a human being could take such abuse and still stay conscious. The metal shards weren't little wussy ones, each of them was a size of your full thumb. Jesus received about 40 lashes, about 30 on the back and these sick fvcks turned him over and performed 10 more on the front, with some landing on his face...

By the end of the lashings, you could see his pale exposed ribs on the side and the torturing ground was full of his blood pools. Now medically speaking, how could he stay conscious? Each metal shards must've went 2 inches deep into the flesh, including on the FRONT. Jesus was a skinny man and if you feel your ribs right now, you can tell only about an quarter of inch of flesh is covering them....

I don't know how a body could take such abuse and not go into shock...

Is it that much more violent then say... Kill Bill? Because Kill Bill was pretty damn bloody.

Maybe I'd better not go see this. This kind of thing usually makes me laugh.

The movie wasn't that violent that everyone makes it out to be. Sure quite violent... but wow... not NEARLY as bad as everyone is making it to be.

Kill Bill isn't even realistic.

This is a 2 hour torture movie, realistic and yes it did happen historically.

Well it's hard to not be bloody when blood is pouring out of someone's arm socket like there's a hose attached to it.

Realistic or not. Being bloody and violent is such regardless of it being "realistic."

I don't want to see this movie.... I don't think I can handle watching flesh slowly being ripped out of a man.

People are outraged by the violence. The point of the movie is that it's probably the way it happened. Mel is just trying to show what he feels actually happened. If you can't handle violence, don't go see it.

My brother went on opening night and a few people just walked out of the movie theater and there was another scene involving a crow that he said you could feel the entire audience cringe...

The human body can edure amazing things. Just look at child birth. Try squeezing something the size of a watermelon out of an opening orginally the size of a lemon.

Meh, nothing compared to kidney stones

I had one last Sunday, and it was like trying to piss out a porcupine.

It's just Mel's version of what actually happened. This question should be addressed to him.
