How can Sears stay in business?

I bought a fridge from Sears last month.
$468, and it is actually a rebadged Frigidaire that goes for well over $550 at other stores.

Believe it or not, my wife and I bought our refrigerator at Sears (really good deal at the time). My dad got a lawn-mower for me as a gift from Sears.

So yes, people do still shop at Sears. I don't know if it is enough to sustain Sears but....

Does anyone actually have a nice sears in town? Every Sears I have been too are clean but not bright and happy like Best Buy. The buildings are usually old, brown, just depressing.

Your BBs are bright and happy? Mine here are downright dark. It seems like I'm entering a disco.

Why get tools from Sears, when stores like Canadian Tire are much better?
You can't be talking about Mastercraft...................

At least, I hope you're not.

To Kenmore and Craftsman you can add Land's End.

Sears has some very highly regarded brands. Craftsman is second only to Snap-On at a much lower price and far easier to get. Kenmore has top rated appliances in every category. They are consistantly rated at the top of almost every comsumer rating organization. Wait until you want appliances or tools. And if you're middle age, clothes from Land's End.

Just about every home owner I know buys lots of stuff from Sears.

Teens shop at Sears? No. Adults, yes.

Sears is actually opening/building standalone super stores at a couple of locations. They are lining up to directly compete with Walmart. I read this in a retail magazine that covers the industry, I guess it was only a matter of time.

Two words: Kenmore and Craftsman.
My appliances are Kenmore and my tools are Craftsman, and those are 2 items where I will only buy quality.
My washer and dryer have seen at least 4 loads a week for 8 years. I've never had one problem and they still look like brand-new.
I've had some of my Craftsman tools since I was a teenager.

craftmen 's all-around

😎

Things I've bought from Sears recently (past year):
Cordless drill $75
Pr. shoes $30
Shorts $15
Garage door opener $150
Vacuum cleaner $70
Stud finder $20
Work bench $90
CD/MP3 player $120

The only BM store where I've spent more $$ are Target and Home Depot. I avoid WalMart.

Definitely a lot of polarity on this issue. A good bunch that swear by a few of their product lines, and a few that haven't even set foot in the store and want it out of business. Very interestng...

We have one not further than a couple of miles away. There's plenty of cars there and even at the pickup areas (for lawnmowers/garden stuff/bbq's/snowblowers/etc.)... especially on the weekends. It's a nice Home Depot alternative.

Back home the Sears close to my place was the ONLY place IMO to get decent jeans...call me lame, but if a pair of jeans doesn't have Lee or Levi's on it, I will not personally pick it up and pay for it.

That and Sears was VERY willing to start me off with a credit card and managable credit limit last year when I turned 18.
Needless to say, without Sears I wouldn't be able to apply for some small loans and get a cell phone without safety deposits.
