I'm just curious how can places like Newegg and Pricewatch have computer parts so cheap? Does anybody know any good distributors? I've tried Ingram Micro and let me tell you, buy from Price Watch!!!!! If i can get prices cheap enough i would be happy to pass the saving's onto my fellow anandtechers. So if you know of any cheap distributors to buy computer parts in bulk feel free to drop me a line.

Pricewatch is just a listing of vendors, not an actual company... as a rule, I try not to buy anything from the companies listed on the first few pages for things like memory or CPUs, just because most of them suck.

Remember, Reseller Ratings is your friend... :)

I buy all my stuff from pricewatch including memory and cpu's from dealers on the first couple pages and have had all good luck with the stuff I've bought

The prices on Price Watch are often loss leaders. Companies lure people in with cheap prices on 1 or 2 items and then gouge on others to make up the difference. Not to mention the places that charge $10 to ship a stick of ram via parcel post.

Pricewatch is an excellent guide as to what the 'real world' prices should be. When I'm thinking about buying something or I need to buy an item, I go to pricewatch to see the prices, then add about 25% to the cheapest item, and that's about the right price. I'd never buy from any of those 'cheapo' companies, it's just not worth the hassle you'll have to deal with to save $5.

If you want the lowest price, and want to gamble on service and support AFTER the sale, buy from the first few pages, and EXPECT to get taken on shipping. If you want quality product, and especially service after the sale, go a few pages deep, and as mentioned above ALWAYS use resellerratings before you buy.

There's a few good ones out there, never the cheapest, but if you ever need to get support, or return something, it will be worth every extra cent.

IMHO, of course.
