Now I've either got to buy connectors or learn how to connect them myself. And what tools do I need to buy to do that?
This just doesn't make sense.
Can any tell me the usual solution? Maybe it's easier than I thought.

molex connectors, pins, a pair of pliers, and you're set. everything you need can be found at your local electronic surplus store. or online, but it'll cost ya more.

So I guess Fry's Electronics would carry that stuff without the additional cost of shipping.

Panaflo fans aren't specifically made for computer use. More are used in industrial and electronic equipment than as cooling fans in home computers, so the leads are bare so they can be customized for the application.

Fry's has the 4-pin connectors but not the 3-pin.

Some ppl find just buying the assembled header connector + choice of 4-pin or 3-pin, known as panaflo tails. It plugs right into the center hub header attached with a legth of wire 3pin or 4pin connector they go for around 2.00 hard to find local so might end up paying $4+ for a connector to ship.

If you need 3pin or 4pin connectors i have sacks of em, if you don't mind them being sent in a envelope, i can give it to you at just the cost of connector + 0.37c :)

3-pin tails.

4-pin tails.

Need to play $7 shipping for a $2 order? :disgust:

Get some more stuff then :p
Heatsink Factory is one of the best online retailers around, imo. They're the only place of which I know that sells the tails like that.

Just buy a few more fans or something. I always order about 5-10 Panaflo tails everytime I order from him. He's very good to deal with.

Maybe you could ask him if he could just throw a few into a regular envelope with a 37¢ stamp on it.

you can just splice them into some power supply cables. Then use heatshrink or electrical tape.

Those of us savvy enough to buy panaflos will often buy several tails when we order other stuff, just to have them around. I also cut the tails from dead fans, keep 'em just for this purpose..
