How can I get everything from the old computer hard drive to the new one. My friend is a lawyer , he has a old Emachine and one a new one with speed and more storage, he doesn''t want to loose the setting.. Thanks

Use Norton Ghost (or equivalent) to physically clone the drives. Thats about the only way you can do it without reinstalling your apps.

Ghost would be about the best way to do this. There are other ways though, Drive Image is similar to Norton Ghost, and I believe most new HDD comes with a way to transfer all the data, info, etc. over.

If you bought the new drive retail, an HD utility file probably came with it (Such as Data Lifeguard for WD Drives). If you bought OEM drive, download the utility from the vendor web site.

That utility is all you should need to clone the old drive, partitions included, to the new drive.

Hope this helps!
