How Can I Track Someone Down?

I had an agency contact me because she apparently listed me with them as her last point of contact, which I found bizarre as we never lived together. She used to be in the Air Force, and if I recall correctly she switched to the Air National Guard so she could pursue her degrees in earnest. Unfortunately, her last name is rather common. Google hasn't helped due to that fact.

I am going to try and get in touch with her parents, as I believe I know what city they live in. Aren't there sites for locating people that are in, or used to be in the military?

Because they need to contact her and I was listed as her last point of contact rather than her parents or her brother, which I found odd. I think there was something about me being listed as some sort of beneficiary as well, but my brain is a still a bit muddled due to sleep deprivation.

It was years ago, and she had downgraded to Air National Guard with the intention of leaving that in a couple of years, if I recall correctly. That would have been done with before the current unpleasantness in the Middle East, so I don't think they would have extended her time.
