I want to be able to see who is logged on to the network at any time. Were running all win2k with a central server that handles logins and permissions. Is there some special program, is this even possible.

When you say central server, do you mean a domain? If so, then the Security Event Log will tell you who has logged in and when.

If it's a workgroup server, then the security log will tell you when somebody connected/logged in to the file server only.

You have to have Auditing turned on in order for this to log these events.

Ummmmm....how about using the Management Console (assuming this is only a single server environment)?

Try this:
* Go to Start->Administrative Tools->Computer Management
* In the left-hand pane, expand Shared Folders
* Highlighting Shares will show you how many client redirections there are for each share on the machine
* Highlighting Sessions will show every user connected to the server, and list how many opens they currently have
* Highlighting Open Files will show you every open file, how many people have it open, and exactly who those people are
