How can I tell if my HD is too loud?

I have a WD 80 gb SE. I've heard people say this HD is the loudest, I've heard other people say that they cannot hear theirs unless they are close to the drive. I'm really confused, I don't know if I should RMA it or not, since my last HD was a 4 gb 5400 rpm generic drive.

It's really just personal opinion. For me, my WD 120 is very annoying with a high pitched noise. Currently waiting for my seagate barracuda V to get here and RMA the WD.
