I have never installed an anti-virus on my PC, but I practice fairly safe computing habits. My PC never acts up, or does anything bad. How can I tell if I have viruses without actually installing the software?

That's actually pretty useful...just not very relevant. Still funny though.

When I see a file called "iexplorer.exe", sitting in a directory named c:\program files\iexplorer by itself, I don't need an antivirus program to tell me that's a virus. :p

Thats what I figure.

What about scheduled payloads?

There are online virus checking things, but I'm sure you actually have to install some kind of software for it to work.

Some of the older viruses, just hang around and take up memory space. Others can actually try to infect other machines. You'll know when you get a call from some ISP saying they're receiving lots of port scanning packets from your IP.
