How can I tell how fast my computer is?

It's old and no one remembers the speed...

How can I tell?

right click on my computer (not a shortcut to it), go to properties.

Download WCPUID from here. This will tell you what you need to know.

Put it in your car and carefully check the speedometer (at "highway" speeds).

How about entering/checking the BIOS on startup? You should be able to find many of the "details" there. Computer "Speed" is more than just a function of the CPU's Mhz . . . you might consider also d/l'ing a benchmarking suite like SiSoft's Sandra.

SiSoft Sandra has some decent motherboard and CPU detection utilities. Plus, you can benchmark it and get some idea of where it should fall.
