AIM or IRC file transfer. IRC is a bit more complicated, but probably better. That's all I can think of for now, besides setting up a torrent...

Any chance you could just burn it to a disk and let him borrow it? DVD-RW ftw :)

Otherwise, I typically split the file into a bunch of smaller pieces, and then transfer them one at a time using some method (e.g. FTP). FTP servers work well, but would require a bit of effort to setup (port forwarding etc).

The easiest thing I can think of would be to find a simple webserver (heck, even apache if you want to do it right), run it on your desktop, forward port 80 from your router and tell your brother your ip address. Having a dedicated webserver pretty much permanently solves all my outgoing file transfer needs, but I hate trying to get files from friends who aren't geeks :p

I've used AIM to send CDs to my brother, it transfers as fast as anything else (FTP, Webserver, Etc...) that I've got set up, granted I've only got a 1 Mbit line. The nice thing is that there's no setup.
