How can I see how big a file is in XP?

You know how in all Win9X and WinNT you are able to see, on the lower right or left of the window, the file size? How can you get that in WinXP? I hate having to hover the mouse over a file or group of files and waiting a sec or two for it to display. I want instant gratification! 🙂

When you open files click on view/ choose details/ and select everything you want to see when you view files. At least its supposed to work.. it only shows details on some of my files

Edit, also select/ view/ details

I believe you're referring to the status bar not appearing by default in XP. To turn it on go to the view menu and check Status Bar. Then go to Tools, Folder Options, and select the View tab. Click the "Like Current Folder" button to set it so that you see the status bar in all folders. (If you don't, you'll only see it when you're in that folder, or only until you close that Explorer window).

Of course, selecting details is also a way, and I prefer it, but some people like to have icons instead of just a file listing.
