I know there'a small program that does the job for Win98, but it doesn't work for WinME. Can somebody help me?

Why do you want to remove DX8? Anyway, it ships with WinME and is installed with WinME. You can't go back to DX7.

Shadow07-

Actually Me shipped with DX 7.01 not 8. I have seen systems that when upgraded to 8 will Blue Screen(namely one that I had with a g400 in it). Usually this is because of the fact that the driver in the OS will not support DX8.. Link -IF you are having DX8 issues I would suggest that you look to see if you can find a driver that is a Beta for DX8 or PM me the Card that you are using and I will see if I can get you one...

Are you sure about that? My copy of WinME has DX8 and I have not seen any other copy with DX7. Well, anyway I believe you, just I haven't seen any copy with DX7.

Shadow- IF you have the auto updater enabled then the first time that you let the system update it would have installed the DX8. I am sure that it shipped with 7 as it is part of the test procedure that I have that verifies the DX level and then installs the latest. Additionally as the vendors for video solutions begin to produce dx8 qualified drivers they will be tested against both dx7 and dx8 to verify compatibility.

My copy of ME came with DX 7.1 and has not been updated. Auto update is disabled but I downloaded "critical updates" from microsoft and still have DX 7.1
