How can i remove programs from Windows XP startup?

On my poor 4200rpm lappy drive, loading my desktop is a pain, i need a way to clear out all the HP bloatware tht starts with windows. Any ideas?

1) Uninstall all the crap that you will not use.
2) Run->msconfig. Disable startup tasks which do not need to run.
3) Run->services.msc. Disable services which don't need to run. Guide
4) When your are sure your computer is running well you can go into the registry and delete the keys that start unwanted programs.

spybot search and destroy 1.3 has a tool for this that is very easy to use, download it thru the link in the thread in my sig

Yup... use Spybot (in Advanced mode) and go Tools | Start Up. Then remove anything you require from starting at boot.........and as an added bonus you get info telling you wether or not you really require it (simplicity itself!)...this feature has been available for ages but only half of the *numbskulls* who have Spybot bother to even look at its additional features......absolutely incredible, what other software DONT they use correctly...WORRYING ISNT IT?
