How can I remove attachments in Outlook 2000?

All of my users keep every email they have ever sent or received to cover their butts in the event of a problem. That in and of itself isn't a bad thing. Most are not inclined to archive old email. We work with graphics and send and receive large attachments regularly. Several of my users are nearing the 2 GB limit on their PSTs.

Is there a plug-in, program, or hack that will allow me to go in and remove attachments in Outlook 2000 (or 2002)?

I have Googled and found a few, but was not overwhelmed by any and wanted to see if the Anandtech community had personal experience with one.

Thanks!

You could always have your users archive their PSTs and open them as a personal folder on their local hard drive. (Tell them to back it up to another place as well). Then they can start over on a new PST.

Download Benign and give it a try. It works for me. You can set it to filter out all embedded sounds, and other junk.

My boss has been running Benign off and on for the last year or so. From what I have seen, it is a good app. I have not seen any indication that it can remove attachments from email once the file has been reviewed.

I am not trying to prevent my users from receiving attachments. I want to remove attachments from their existing mail store.
