I have a hard drive out of a Compaq. I need to get the info off of it and onto my new computer. I was wondering if I could just installt eh drive in the new computer and copy all the info over. Although this drive already has a copy of Win 98 on it, would that screw up the computer if I copy the whole drive, or should I just go through and pick all the stuff I want and then copy all of it without the OS and other junk. I already have Win ME on the new computer. Help me out. Thanks

If your new computers hard drive is big enough, you can create a folder (old hard drive) and copy all contents of compaq hard drive into that folder. Then be able to access things as you need them.

Just be sure to set it to slave when putting on the other puter to copy the data

Depends on what you are copying.. if they are actual apps you want to run, I'd just install the progs over.. but copy over the HD into a folder like mentioned above.. then just copy of the data files into the corresponding directory after reinstalling the apps you want. Shouldn't be a problem of being able to "see" the data.. only when you have NT's NTFS format vs FAT or linux formats you have the visibility probs..
