How can I make XP not load up the system check during start up?

It takes my computer a while to shut down while running xp pro, so i usually just turn it off before it actually shuts it self down. but everytime I start up again that stupid system check comes up and I hate it. How can i take that off? Its kind of like scan disk i guess....
