How can I make my Seagate FreeAgent Desk sleep?

I just bought a 500 GB FreeAgent Desk. I have 64-bit Vista, the initial software that was on the disk installed fine, but when I tried to update it it told me it didn't support 64-bit. But, I don't think the version that is installed is working properly. The light is on all the time, which I assume means it's not sleeping like it should be after a period of inactivity. Is there any way I can force the drive to sleep via other means? I don't mind uninstalling the software and using other means for backing up.

The light should dim if it's in sleep mode. The light doesn't go out entirely, unless the drive is off. The difference between bright and dim may be somewhat subtle.
 
Thanks! It has been sleeping then, and it even does it without the software installed at all. That also means the software was working correctly on 64-bit. It tells you it can't update on a 64-bit OS when you try to, and the website says the software is for 32-bit only, but I downloaded the newest version on there and installed it and it works fine, including the backup portion. So you can get the latest that way if you're on 64-bit. I'm not sure why Seagate leads people astray by saying 32-bit only online, or why 64-bit users have had problems, unless it's only with XP 64.

Anyway, it works good, it's quiet, sleek, sleeps properly, and the software does its thing. Thanks again.
