How can I make IE6 open in a maximized window?

How can I make IE6 open in a maximized window? I'm always having to click on the little box in the upper right corner... but this is annoying. I'd like IE to open maximized when I fire it up...

How is this done?

Thanks

Open IE, then resize it manually (hover over the edges until you get a <->, then pull it to the max size. Do the same for the vertical.
Close and reopen IE and you should have it back to full size.

Isn't there a setting somewhere, perhaps in the registry? I would like to set it for all and any occurances and instances of IE.

right click the Ie icon and go to "RUN" and than select MAX!

Text u use the quick launch right? It works on all programs btw.

Yeah, I've used this before on other applications. I was wondering if there was a way to force any instance of IE to open maximized... like when a new instance of IE is started from a link in an open webpage or other situation.

Thanks

The first IE windows opened will usually be the same size of the last IE window closed (think about it for a sec, and it might make since.

I don't think there is a way to make new IE windows opened maximized, if at least one IE window is already open.

Ok...

Here is another related question. When I first installed Win 2000 Pro on my machine... if I clicked on a jpg file, it would open up in IE... if I clicked on subsequent jpg's, they would open in the same browser window, but you could click forward or backward to page thru the pictures. Something changed, and now when I do this, each jgp opens a new instance of IE. Anyone know how to change it back?

Not 100 percent sure on this, but you might want to try Tools / Internet Options / Advanced and uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts."

I'll give that a try when I get home.

Press and hold Ctrl and click on the x in the corner (of the last window that is open)

Confused

BTW, I tried that but subsequent IE windows open up small.

Of course, changing any shortcut properties to open maximized works as usual, but not when launching IE associated with jpegs etc.

Just resize the window that opens to full screen size (by dragging the corners), then close it. Subsequent windows will open to that size. Not technically full screen, but does it matter?

Yeah, this is one of those small things that would really be nice to have but it's pretty unlikely that there is a reg. fix for it :\

But thanks for the shortcut trick, i'm suprised i've never thought of it before 😱

If you are comfortable playing in the registry:
Start -> Run -> CMD -> regedt32
Hkey Current User -> Software -> Microsoft -> Internet Explorer -> Main -> set the value for Fullscreen to Yes
This will cause all IE instances to open in full screen.

Ha, my IE is locked on full screen, and none of these methods posted fixed it, i think i need to resize it then logoff perhaps. Anyhow im now browsing through the registry, and similar to the last post, in the same reg folder, there is a key named "allowwindowreuse" now this looks pretty suspicious suspect to me on the crime that you have stated, so its under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Oh and i guess after just reading Xemus post, i was on the right trail of my (F11) full screen fix, might go and fix that now. Feels good to get rid of irritating pc problems.

Thanks, I'll try the regedit. I edit the registry alot.

Is there a fix to make each jpeg open up in the same browser window rather than open a new one for each occurance?

That works of course, but it goes beyond. I would like to set it maximized, not full screen.

Open the IE Window and size to screen.

Hold SHIFT (not Crtl) and close window.

To open JPEGs in seperate windows, add the " -home -new" switch to your IE shortcut.
