Still sounds like there's something psychological here. I don't think it's just the bad taste. I personally would probably be offended too in this situation. That is a wide variety of food that tastes very dissimilar.

I totally agree.

See..as a kid I used to get freaked out about other peoples home cooked meals. Resturaunts I always do fine in (in fact, I had my only good Korean food experience at a Korean BBQ joint in Manhattan).

So, when my GF brings home the old tupperwares full of pre-cooked, or marinated food...it kinda weirds me out.

I always feel more comfortable about food when I see, or even better, to participate in it being prepared.

Or if I go to a resturaunt I usually have no problems. (expect pickles..again, probably just in my head)

This is almost definitely a psychological thing.

Any suggestions ?

i think you just need to make yourself eat the stuff and not thing about it. i used to never eat beans and would freak when my mexican food had beans in it. eventually i just started eating them and i just had some pinto beans with my tacos.

slowly acclimate yourself, or else you'll have to plunge right on in. it's all mental. get the nerve to try something.

and bibimbap is rice and vegetables with bean paste. how is that gross? bulgogi is so friggin good...

you could just try breaking down the tastes of everything. "ok bulgogi is just meat" "bibimbap is just rice and veggies" etc etc.

i still refuse to eat kimchee, it smells.

I'll second that

umm, I'm pretty much stoned all day long.
So eat a light breakfast and then smoke your heart out but promise yourself that for the next 12 hours you will only eat Korean food or your own arm. Once you start weighing the pro's and con's of eating your hand then you'll know it's time to try the food. I bet some alcohol would help too, alcohol weed munchies are the worst.

I wasn't suggesting that you do this on the job.

I bet you'd be hungry after a day of smoking pot and not drinking.

Stop being a pussy and just eat it.

I try that...and the next thing I know I am practically gagging trying to keep it down.

This happens with any food I have "convinced" myself tastes bad.

I know it is all in my head.

It is certainly not in your head. Stop listening to your grandma and your life will get better.
The fact is, certain type of food you will never come to like.
And for the delusionned that think taste come with age, don't get me started !

have you ever heard of self limiting beliefs? it appears you have alot of them! Every perception we have is just "in our heads" we have the ability to believe dogshit tastes like candy.

Interesting, but I always see eating as a pleasure so people that supress their pleasure by eating something they really don't like makes me feel bad for them and for anyone that does it.

Oh well, enjoy life, don't screw it... that would be my motto.

Where does her mom live? What if you went to visit and watched her cook? Would that help?? You could disguise it as wanting to learn how to cook authentic Korean food.

I put this plan into motion a couple days ago.

My GF is making the arrangements, so we will see if it helps.
