How can I hold my hair without that wet look?

My hair is kind of wavy and don't normally stay in one place. I am going somewhere tomorrow and want to hold the hair in place. I am not a big fan of gel as it makes the hair look wet, so what am I to do?

One of my friends suggested Axe hair gel but I don't want that wet look.

Wax, pomade. Some will have a sheen to it, others matte. Different ones will work different depending on your hair type and length. Sounds like you have a date or something, so just pop into a salon tomorrow and tell them your situation, they'll probably have a little tester puck you can buy/have/use.

hair spray.

i use this, it doesn't make your hair stiff and weighed down at all. it looks natural, but holds.

Another vote for hair spray. Not what I would use, but for what you want it will probably work the best. I use American Crew Fiber which has a nice non-shiny look to it and great hold.

Edit: how long is your hair? That could make a big difference in recommendations.

I also have wavy hair and don't want the wet look. I've been using Curel Ultra Healing hand lotion in my hair for a few years now, and it does exactly what I want it to. The cheap Suave stuff was about the same for my hair, but the Curel is much better on hands. I cover my hands, run my fingers through my hair, maybe repeat, fix a hair here or there, done.

American Crew forming creme. I go for the same look OP, works great for me and I have thick hair.
