Stay up longer...like stay up till 6am tomrrow...8am the next night.

Eventually, you'll get back to a normal bedtime. :)

not reading any links

but body produces melatonin at night, less during the day

so you jack up your melatonin you sleep faster

Force youself to stay awake until your desired bedtime. So, for example, if you woke up at 2pm Wed stay up until 9pm Thurs (or whenever you want to start going to bed). If you can consistently go to bed at about the same time for a week or so your body will adjust.

just force yourself to wake up earlier. do something physical during the day (but not right around bedtime). eat healthy foods.

Sluggo knows his bio-chem :)

Melatonin worked *wonders* when I tried it. Fell asleep on a plane ride, which never happens.

Valerian root is fantastic as well. I have some valerian root tea. It tastes like ass on a cracker but it'll make you sleeeeeeepy.

Neurontin is the BOMB as a sleep aid but you need a prescription or a friend who's epileptic or bipolar (or make friends with a doctor...) I slept 15 hours straight. I dunno how I did it but I think I sank like 15 inches down into my mattress from sleeping so hard :D I felt damn refreshed tho.

I have some Trazedone here too that's supposed to work but I think I'll hold off on that :p

Soemthing that I found years ago to work for me but it requires a little prep time (ok a few days prep time):
get a cd that is mellow that you like but do not want to really listen to on a regular basis (it really sucks when you use your favorite album and this backfires when you listen to it at some time other than bedtime) and play it when you go to bed on nights that you are tired. After a few nights, you will discover that anytime you play that cd, you will fall asleep within a few sangs. I've used that in the past when I worked graveyard and was forced to deal with regular sleep times on the weekend. Works like a charm. Sarah Brightman's La Luna is my current sleeper cd. I usually asleep before track 4. I haven't heard the last song on the album for over a year. Luckily, I haven't had to use this lately either.
