I finally got my dad to switch from aol, now he says he wants to get his old emails back. does anyone know how aol stores email?

thanks!

look into Netscape 6.0, i believe it has a way to retrieve mail from aol....otherwise with OE your out of luck.
maybe you can forward all of his aol mail to his new email address, as long as his account is still active, if account is dead, email is gone....other than that i dunno, with aol your very limited....keep in mind aol mail is not stored on his computer, it's kept on aol mail server....reason # 139 why i think aol sux.

he still has his aol account can he log into aol on the web and forward his mail? I want to avoid putting the aol software back on his computer.
Thanks!

There is actually a program called Aol2Pop that allows you to retrieve your aol email through your pop account. I have never tried it but here is a link and the description from the program.

Aol2Pop download at fileforum

AOL2Pop is an AOL POP3/SMTP email interface for users of America Online. It allows users to check AOL e-mail from any standard e-mail client (Microsoft Outlook, Eudora Email, etc.) instead of using AOL's proprietary email service.

and the homepage for the program is
