How can i get a credit card?

I have absolutely no credit history as i've never used a credit card before, only Debit cards. I applied for a credit card with bank of america but the only card they offered me was a card with a 50 dollar yearly fee and a credit limit of 500. Where can i get a card?

If you have no credit history, no bank is going to give you a decent credit limit. Your going to need to start small and slowly work your way up. It takes years to establish credit history.
 
Don't go to BoA they screw a lot of people out of their own money. Go to a smaller bank and if you can a credit union. You should be able to get a $500 credit limit with any bank regardless of your no credit status. However, no one should be charging you a fee yearly only interest and APR on your purchases. Also check with gas cards and cell phone companies these are great for starting out your credit life.

My father would cosign with me on the purchase of a new car, reducing the rate.

I don't want a fancy card or anything, just one with no yearly fee and maybe a 1k maximum?

Have you tried getting any sort of "store" card? the first CC I had was a card I could only use at Target; after a while they eventually gave me a full-fledged Visa. I believe both Best Buy and Circuit City do something similar.

I qualified for plenty of no fee credit cards my first year in college. Get the car, get a cell phone/ something with a bill you p[ay and your credit will build. If I was making 65k a year there is no way in hell I would need a credit card

im 22. I just signed up for a citibank card with a 600 credit limit and no fee.
